Essex Keypad Keyless Entry System.
This system is a popular option in motor coaches, cars, trucks and Emergency vehicles. The AKE-5BH replaces the KE1600 series keypads used in many motorhomes. The keypad allows you to lock or unlock the doors by entering a 3 to 8 digit code into the keypad. Unit can also open the trunk and compartment doors (if equipped with electric release) and can turn on the dome lights before entering vehicle.
The door lock interface and optional outputs may require additional relays for operation, depending on vehicle make and model. Note that a 5 inch by 1 inch flat surface is necessary to mount unit. You will also need a minimum of 1 inch mounting depth. The AKE-5 comes with blue backlighting on the buttons.
Remote controlled keyless entry:
2 remote control options are available. The RE1704 Remote controlled keyless entry was supplied by Essex and came in many motor coaches in the 2000's. This option is recommended if you are replacing an existing remote control system. This option comes with control module and 2 remote controls. Verify that your remote controls look like the ones in the photo.
If you are installing a new system in your coach and wish to add remote control, we recommend the Avital 2103L remote controlled keyless entry by Directed Electronics. The keyless entry option comes with 2 remote controls and a seperate control module that will allow you to open your vehicle with either the keypad or by remote control for the ultimate in convenience.

Note: Installation on most late model vehicles will require body computer interface. Professional installation from a shop with advanced auto electrical skills is recommended.
